The risk of occurrence increases in systemic diseases that negatively affect the quality of muscles and soft tissues, such as diabetes. Except for small partial tears that may occur in older individuals, the treatment for all tears is surgical. Surgical treatment is performed using arthroscopic methods, with a few incisions of approximately 1 cm made around the shoulder.

Post-Treatment

After surgery, patients wear an arm sling, but during this period, the operated arm can be used as an assisting arm. Depending on the type of tear, physical therapy usually begins in the 2nd or 3rd week. After a roughly 3-week physical therapy period, around the 6th week, patients are allowed to resume all daily activities.

Preventative Measures

To prevent shoulder tears, it is important to avoid falling onto the shoulder, seek necessary treatment for recurring shoulder pain and impingement syndrome, and maintain regular blood sugar regulation, especially for those with diabetes.

Shoulder Rotator Cuff Injuries Shoulder muscle tears can occur suddenly due to a single trauma (e.g., a fall onto the shoulder) or develop over time due to repeated traumas and lack of treatment (subacromial impingement).
